
Dr. Oates was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. He attended the University of Kentucky and received a Bachelor of Science in 2008. In 2012, he obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. Dr. Oates continued his pursuit of education in the two-year General Practice Residency (GPR) at the University of Virginia here in Charlottesville. He joined a private practice in Andover, Massachusetts before serving as a general dentist in the US Air Force, deploying to Saudi Arabia and enjoying duty stations in Abilene, TX, San Antonio, TX and Fort Walton Beach, FL.
Dr. Oates is a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of General Dentistry. He is committed to performing the highest quality dental care and ensuring his patients have positive experiences and outcomes. He currently resides in Barboursville, VA with his wife and two young sons. His interests outside of dentistry include music, homebrewing, disc golf, climbing and hiking in the beautiful Virginia mountains.
